Ryan Wade, Assistant Professor, School of Social Work, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has been awarded an NIH grant, his first as PI.  The grant is Racialized Sexual Discrimination (RSD) and Psychological Well-being among Young Sexual Minority Men of Color (YSMMoC) (R21MD016962). This project seeks to refine and validate a novel scale of Racialized Sexual Discrimination (RSD) as experienced by young sexual minority men of color (YSMMoC), and examine the association between RSD and indicators of psychological well-being among this population. This project is relevant to public health because YSMMoC are at elevated risk for poor psychosocial functioning, and RSD is an understudied phenomenon that may negatively impact the psychological health of YSMMoC.
